Jane Abraham, a dedicated Museum volunteer since1997, was presented with the prestigious "Volunteer of the Year" Award.
Jane loyally tends Derrick Barge No. 8, almost every Saturday throughout its open season.  She often puts in extra shifts when needed during events, programs or busy season.  An experienced docent, Mrs. Abraham guided many tours again this year, as she has done continually through the years.  Her assistance at events and programs has been valuable, as well as her willingness to distribute promotional materials in advance.  This year, she amazed the staff, weekly, with her ability to raise funds through our Annual Benefit Drawing, by repeatedly attending the Oswego Farmer's Market.  She single-handedly raised close to one third of the fundraiser's profit.

Congratulations, Janie!

Good work, all around!

Annual Volunteer Appreciation Reception 2004

A good time was had on Wednesday, November 3rd, 2004, at the Oswego Country Club.  Over 40 volunteers, staff and members gathered to honor the 60+ volunteers who have contributed to the Museum's efforts this year.  Volunteers of the Months, Docents, Volunteer Committee Members and Dedicated Volunteers (putting in over 30 hours each) were all separately honored, as well.  Jane Abraham was awarded the 2004 Volunteer of the Year award during the event and seemed satisfactorily surprised.  Congratulations to all our volunteers, on another fantastic year of growth and achievement for the Marine Museum.

Join Us as we shuffle off to Buffalo for an exciting pre-holiday adventure with

direct from New York City!

Our first stop will be the Pan-Am Building of the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society at Nottingham Court, which currently houses the permanent Pan-American Centennial Exhibit.  Included are the Native American Gallery, Rail Baron’s Train Gallery and Bflo Made (showing hundreds of inventions, products and artifacts that describe Western New York’s development as a world-class manufacturing center).  A museum shop and visitor center are open daily during museum hours.

After exploring this fascinating facility it will be time to hop on our bus and head for the Bijou Grille to relax and enjoy a tasty lunch (on your own).  Later, our afternoon entertainment will be presented just across the street at Shea’s Performing Arts Center as Santa, the Radio City Music Hall Rockettes and a spectacular cast welcome us to the Christmas season with all its wonderful music and excitement.  The awe-inspiring living nativity at the end of the program will fill us with the true spirit of the holidays.

Then it’s off to our bus for a short drive to Salvatore’s Italian Garden Restaurant for a delicious dinner at one of Buffalo’s premier dining spots (included).  We anticipate arrival at Oswego’s West Pier by 9:30 pm, looking forward to a beautiful holiday season with memories of our delightful late-fall day in western New York.
